The storm that rolled in last Friday dropped a total of 19 inches of snow on our upper mountain, pushing our crews to work quickly to open more terrain. As of this morning, the upper mountain base is at 33” (at the snow stake) but the snowpack is highly variable by location due to wind loading and scouring. There is still dirt on many of the main runs that are needed to open the upper mountain. Parts of our lower mountain are already open on an 18″ base, courtesy of our snowmaking team. Here’s what to expect this week:
Weather
After snow showers Tuesday, the weather turns mostly sunny through Sunday, with highs in the 30s–40s and cold overnight lows. A dry pattern is expected to persist through early December, with milder temperatures and occasional mountain-top inversions. Lifts
Palisades:
- Wednesday: Our goal is to open Red Dog and add a small terrain park to the bottom of Exhibition. The Aerial Tram will be open 10am-4pm for sightseeing only.
- Friday: We plan on adding Resort Chair to our lift schedule as well as snow-tubing and beginner skiing at SnoVentures
Alpine:
- Thursday: We plan on adding Roundhouse and Summit to our lift schedule. Note: there will be no grooming off of Summit Express.
Crews have been working on the upper mountain. This includes track-packing (compressing the snow and creating snow features that hold wind-blown snow), building lift ramps and breaking lifts free of the ice build up from this storm and running them. Stay tuned for more updates on our expanding terrain.
