Welcome to The Spring Skiing Capital, where winter might just decide to pop back in and say hello! From Tahoe Truckee Earth Day, to live music, Alpine’s last turns, and late season storms, even winter wants to be at The Spring Skiing Capital.

Weather
Well, if you haven’t picked up on it yet, the weather is unpredictable in the Sierras. Mother Nature has brought winter back out to play, and starting today, we are experiencing the start of a low-pressure system that could bring up to 10 inches of snow to the upper mountain by Sunday evening. To learn more, check out the weather blog by Open Snow’s Bryan Allegretto.

Conditions
We have been spring skiing for a few weeks now, but with temperatures dipping and new snow on the way our conditions are experiencing a bit of a change up. We would suggest starting on the groomers as the incoming snow will be falling on a firm surface and could be a bit more dust on crust. By Monday, if the snow accumulates on the higher end of the forecast, we could have some powder turns before returning to spring skiing conditions!
Operations
Alpine’s last day is April 27, but Palisades will continue to be open seven days a week through Memorial Day (weather and conditions permitting).

Earth Day in The Village at Palisades Tahoe: April 26
One of the largest Earth Day celebrations in the region, the free community event takes place at The Village at Palisades Tahoe from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and gives kids and adults the opportunity to learn about recycling, composting, alternative energy, and sustainability through hands-on activities the whole family can enjoy.
This event is a community tradition to learn about sustainable products and services offered by local organizations and businesses, meet with local area nonprofits that share Earth Day values, as well as showcasing local entertainment. Our goal is to connect the community with the people and resources found in our region who foster innovation, initiate change and ultimately implement an equitable partnership for a green planet.

Alpine’s Closing Weekend
To celebrate the last turns at Alpine, we’ve got live music, and food and beverage specials for the weekend.
On Saturday, April 26, The Allmond Brothers will be playing from 2 pm – 5 pm at the Alpine Lodge. On Sunday, April 27, Pipe Down will be closing out the party at the Alpine Lodge from 2 pm -5 pm.
Enjoy $5 hot dogs, $6 draft beers, and $10 cocktails to round out your weekend at Alpine!

Palisades Tahoe Mountain Sports School
