Palisades Tahoe Raves Up the Mountains
Last Friday and Saturday, Palisades Tahoe hosted Tahoe Live, an unforgettable launch party to kick off the 2023-2024 season. Even though the snow depths are not where they were at this time last year, the spirit of Lake Tahoe locals and visitors alike could be felt on the slopes during the day and in the crowds during the night this past weekend.
Whether folks enjoyed some of their first days on the slopes, early Christmas shopping in The Village at Palisades Tahoe (see our Holiday Gift Guide), or came to the mountain to attend our curated electronic music festival, there was no shortage of fun or early-season stoke.
The main stage used for music events at Palisades Tahoe is one-of-a-kind, providing clear view of the legendary mountains behind it while also creating acoustics similar to that of an amphitheater, only ours is made out of snow-capped peaks. Pulsating beats, lasers, and bopping heads wearing furry hats filled the valley on Friday, December 15th and Saturday, December 16th. Local artists like Kowta, Zaterday, and Rambo as well as headliners, REZZ and DJ Diesel (AKA Shaquille O’Neal) brought a crowd to The Village at Palisades Tahoe that was ready to ring in the start of the new season.
REZZ
For a more immersive experience while reading this recap, try listening to “Puzzle Box”: one of REZZ’s highest charted songs.
REZZ closed out the stage on Friday night. Seeing REZZ play live takes her music to an entirely new level, to space, even. Bass music in general feels and sounds really different live, but listening to REZZ’s music live feels like having your whole body pleasantly encased in a full body wub massage. Between her visual production and downtempo style, she’s incredibly unique and easily many people’s favorite to see live.
REZZ, known for her distinctive brand of “midtempo” bass music, has a unique ability and desire to connect with her fans. This show was no exception. REZZ said in an interview that she wanted to start wearing her goggles because she wanted to convey the message that her music was “hypnotic.” REZZ’s ability to transport her audience to another realm, combined with the immersive visuals and bass-infused alchemy, speaks to her talent and the level of production that accompanies her.
DJ DIESEL
Saturday came with more local and loved DJs from nearby and surrounding areas as well as former NBA player, Diesel. Diesel’s show wasn’t just a concert; it was a carnival of sound and a visual party. Many are surprised when they hear that one of the most renowned NBA players of all time also DJs. What’s even more surprising is that he wanted to DJ before he wanted to play basketball and that he was always working on that dream behind the scenes of the one he was living.
Attendees left the venue not just with ringing ears and melted faces from heavy dubstep beats, but with a new appreciation for the unexpected twists and turns that Diesel’s beats could take.
The Tahoe Live festival this year filled festivalgoers with excitement and anticipation for the season. There are so many exciting events happening this year. This was just the start.
As we get deeper into the winter season, we want to keep everyone as informed as possible with our resort statuses.
Current Snow and Mountain Updates
Our snowmaking team is working hard to produce enough snow to expand terrain. Temperatures have been staying low which is a good sign and allows for new snow being made to continue building baselevels at the mountain. As of right now, the following lifts are open to the public:
- Roundhouse
- Treeline Cirque (Mid-Station only)
- Yellow
- Meadow
- Subway
- Base To Base Gondola
Using forecasting knowledge and the awareness of our trained snowmaking professionals, we will keep expanding terrain as weather and conditions provide. To get the most up to date information, we recommend keeping up with our blogs (posts below) and bookmarking these pages:
