It’s official – we’ve reached the 700″ mark for snowfall this season! That’s right, you read that correctly – 700 INCHES of snow have blanketed our mountain since the start of the season. For context, our average seasonal snowfall is a whopping 400 inches. Can you believe it? We certainly can’t, but we’re not complaining. And the best part? There are many days of epic skiing and riding still ahead of us, as we’ll be keeping our lifts spinning all the way through the 4th of July!
We received 191 inches of snow in March, bringing our season total to 692 inches. That’s 173% of our annual season average of 400 inches! This is the 3rd largest March snowfall we’ve seen in the last 22 years.
What a turbulent but exciting month March has been so far! The snow depth on our upper mountain is upward of 18 feet, and we are at 166% of total average snowfall. We started the first day of March off with 3 feet of snow in 24 hours. Then, after a small break in the weather, we received snow (and at some elevations rain) every day between March 5th and March 15th! Our season-to-date snowfall total is now sitting at 662 inches, or just over 55 FEET of snow. 14 of those feet have fallen in March alone!
We’re nearly at our average season snowfall of 400” and we still have 4+ months of winter remaining. The massive snowfall amount in January allowed us to open 100% of our terrain including Silverado. Our crews worked hard on the mountain and in the base areas to provide an amazing month of skiing for you!
This is a December to remember — maybe even another #DEEPcember? In just 11 days, Palisades Tahoe received more than 9 feet of snow. That’s an average of 10+ inches per day! Our teams braved winds of over 160mph, snowfall rates of more than 6 inches per hour, and extreme weather impacts to get the mountain open for some fantastic skiing and riding. Our crews opened 11 new chairlifts across both mountains since the first of December, a huge feat that we couldn’t be more stoked about.
