Operations Update: Rime Ice Today; More Lifts To Open Midweek

It was certainly an action-packed weekend here at Palisades Tahoe. We have now received more than three feet of snow on our ridgelines since last Wednesday, and more storms continue to brew on the horizon. Thanks to the incredibly hard work of our operations teams, we were able to open Siberia and Shirley on Saturday afternoon, and the crew is out there right now prepping to expand even more. One thing we do want to note is that this latest band of the storm came in wet and heavy at the base area, so base area snow totals were not quite as large as we hoped for. Still, this dense snow is good to help build our long-term snowpack despite causing some icing issues on several lifts today.

Operations Update: Expanded Today; Weather May Impact Weekend

Wow, what a day! Especially this morning. The mountains looked stunning dressed in a fresh coat of snow, but mother nature was not afraid to give us a few challenges. We’re going to give you all the details about what happened today, and then we’ll paint the picture for what to expect through the weekend.

Operations Update: Two Storm Systems To Expand Terrain Monday

Yesterday, winds picked up in the afternoon and evening, a harbinger of the extreme weather to come. Waking up on this first day of December today, we were greeted with a light dusting of snow. Just an inch or so on the mountain was reported around 5am. Since then, snowfall has been steady throughout the morning, as have the strong gusts of wind. Our goal is to open as much terrain as possible in the quickest and safest manner allowed.

Snow Continues Thursday

Thursday Storm: Winds crank up to over 100 mph over the ridgetops Thursday so expect some lift closures. Snow continues to fall through the day and into Thursday night before ending by early Friday morning. Highs in the 20s. No changes to the forecast. Still expecting 10-15 inches at the base and 15-25 inches on […]

Operations Update: Maintaining Snowpack, Storms on Horizon

As we close out an exciting week of terrain expansion by opening Alpine, adding Resort Chair, and getting top to bottom with Mountain Run, we’re turning our attention to maintaining our offering despite warm temperatures, and we continue to keep snowmaking a high priority. To start this week’s update, let’s take a look at how our snowpack is doing across all elevations at the resort.

Operations Update: What To Expect for Opening Day

It’s here! At 9 o’clock on Friday morning, the lifts will begin spinning at Palisades Tahoe to kick off the 2022-2023 winter season. Thanks to that early November snowfall we received, we are kicking off the year with some upper mountain terrain. The Funitel will give access to Gold Coast at Palisades, and SnoVentures will also be open in the base area. Alpine will open on November 22nd.

Operations Update: We’re Opening Early

It has been an incredible snowy week at Palisades Tahoe. Mother nature has delivered an incredible 39 inches of snow on our upper mountain in the past 7 days. That’s more than THREE FEET! For the past few blogs, we’ve been saying that we planned to open lower mountain for Opening Day, but that “snow could change our plans.” Well, snow has most definitely changed our plans. Not only will we be opening 4 days early, but we’ll be opening with upper mountain terrain at Palisades.

Operations Update: First Storm Totals & More On The Way

This week, snow started falling on Tuesday morning in the North Lake Tahoe region. Snowfall remained pretty steady over the next 48 hours, especially on our upper mountains, while Truckee and lakeside towns saw pockets of blue sky between periods of active snowfall. In total, we saw about 13 inches of snow on our upper mountains, and 8 inches in the base areas. The mountains look beautiful coated in white, making us all even more excited about our fast-approaching Opening Day.

Operations Update: Season Preview for Winter 2022-23

If you visited the Alpine Lodge or The Village at Palisades Tahoe at all this summer, you saw how totally under construction this place is. In fact, this is the most construction we’ve ever had in the base areas at one time — even more than when we built The Village! From new chairlifts to upgraded snowmaking systems, we have a LOT to update you on to get you prepped for your Winter 2022-23 ski season.

Palisades Tahoe Unites Legends for Winter 2022/23

A dotted line shows the future path of the gondola at Palisades Tahoe.

It has been the dream of many for decades and, at long last, it is coming true. For winter 2022/23, we are planning to open a yet-to-be-named gondola that connects our two legendary base areas. Palisades Tahoe will now be the 3rd largest ski resort in North America, and the biggest in California.
