It’s here! At 9 o’clock on Friday morning, the lifts will begin spinning at Palisades Tahoe to kick off the 2022-2023 winter season. Thanks to that early November snowfall we received, we are starting the year with some upper mountain terrain. The Funitel will give access to Gold Coast at Palisades, and SnoVentures will also be open in the base area. Alpine will open on November 22nd.

What about Resort Chair? When will that open?
We are hoping to add Resort Chair as soon as possible, hopefully by November 22nd. Yesterday, we experienced a water leak in our snowmaking system at the top of Far East and we had to pause snowmaking in this zone until tomorrow. Tuesday and Wednesday snowmaking focused on SnoVentures, Mountain Run, and Gold Coast. If we get Resort Chair open… there is a SMALL possibility we will have expert-only access to Red Dog added during this week as well. No promises.
When will Mountain Run open?
Ideally, we’d like to have it by November 22nd, but we are hesitant to go out with a hard date. We are still doing a significant amount of snowmaking in this area. The run looks good down to about Tower 20, but the lower part of the mountain still has some dots to connect.
When will the Aerial Tram open?
We plan to open the Aerial Tram on Wednesday, November 23rd. We may be able to open Mountain Meadow for a few days around Thanksgiving as well, but East Winds are tough on the snowpack up there. You can already see some grass sticking out. If we open the Aerial Tram with skiing access, you will have to upload and download. There will not be ski-down access. The High Camp Marketplace will open on November 23rd, and Granite Bistro at High Camp will open for the season on November 26th.
When will Snowtubing open?
Snowtubing may be added on November 22nd as well. We are holding off on making too much snow in this area to focus on expanding terrain.
ALPINE SIDE UPDATES:
- Opening Day: Tuesday, November 22nd
- Hours of Operation: 9am-4pm, and we will be open daily after this.
- Open Chairlifts: Treeline Cirque and likely Roundhouse as well.
- Ticket + Pass Office: The Alpine Ticket Windows are open 8:30am-4pm daily. Please note that there are ticket windows or kiosks only. The pass office at Alpine is closed.
- Food + Beverage: Alpine Bar and Meadows Cafe will be open daily starting on Alpine’s Opening Day. The Chalet will not open until December as it underwent some exciting renovations this summer and that work is still being finished.
- Locker Rooms: Locker rooms are now open daily from 8am-4:30pm.
- Rental Shop: Open 8:30am-4pm daily starting 11/22
- Estelle Sports: Open 8:30am-4pm daily starting 11/22
NEED TO KNOW: RED DOG LIFT TOWERS
The Red Dog lift towers are being flown in this week, and it may briefly impact operations. First Ventures and the Palisades Kids carpets will have to CLOSE when the helicopter is operating. If you have a Lesson booked during a time that towers are being flown, our Contact Center will reach out to you to help make different arrangements.
EARLY SEASON CONDITIONS – STAY SAFE!
- Please keep in mind that we still have construction going on in our base areas, so be mindful and obey all signage.
- Please be careful going off-piste. It’s sharky out there! We have limited coverage in many areas.
- Dress warm. It has been cold here lately! Beware of ice in shady spots as well.
