Sherwood will open tomorrow and it will operate daily, weather and conditions permitting. Snow conditions are extremely thin in this area, but in an effort to expand our available skiable terrain, we have decided to move forward with opening. Sherwood will have no grooming except for the maze. This means that if you are going to ski or snowboard in this area, you need to be aware of your surroundings. No beginners should attempt this terrain in these “low-tide” conditions.
The caveat with opening Sherwood in these lower snow conditions is that we don’t know how long it will last. Our crews will do their best to make it last as long as possible, but we need significant snowfall in order to maintain these runs.
Terrain Parks
We are going to try to start posting more frequent updates on the features in our Terrain Parks. We posted one today about both Belmont and Tiegel, written by Jacy Lentini, one of our Terrain Parks supervisors. In Tiegel, the 5-pack of jumps for all skill levels is a staff favorite, while in Belmont, we just added a J rail last night that we built over the summer.
Weather Outlook
Overall I’d expect partly sunny skies through Saturday with some clouds, and then mostly sunny for Sunday – Tuesday. Highs into the 40s for the weekend, and then into the 50s for the lower elevations near the base for early next week as high pressure strengthens over the West.
Bryan Allegretto’s forecast for the weekend. Read more in our Weather Blog.
Further out, there is snowfall in the forecast for the 31st through the 3rd, but it is too far out now to call any significant snowfall totals. We’ll take a closer look at this storm when we are in the 5-day window.
