Wow! Talk about a change up. The storm that rolled into town Wednesday and cleared out Thursday dropped an impressive 14 inches of snow on the upper mountain (almost twice what we expected). The conditions have officially shifted back from spring skiing and into full-on winter mode, just like Punxsutawney Phil predicted. But don’t get too comfortable with these sunny skies, another storm door could open next week…
Weather
Through the weekend and potentially through Tuesday we are forecasted to see mainly sunny skies and highs in the 30s and 40s. There is a small chance for snow on both Monday and Tuesday, but the real talk-of-the-town is the potent winter storm that could bring multiple feet of snow and strong winds to the Sierra starting on Wednesday morning. Conditions
With 14 inches of fresh snowfall, there is a lot to be happy about. Our mountain got a beautiful refresh and currently you can find powder, packed powder, and some firm and icy patches as our base became solid in the cold temperatures. As always, please continue to ski and ride in control and within your ability level.
Operations
For this upcoming weekend, we anticipate having all lifts spinning except for Broken Arrow and Olympic Lady, as well as most of our 6,000 acres of terrain open, but as always, operations are subject to change based on conditions.
With a big storm on the horizon for midweek, our mountain operations may be impacted. These large storm systems are often accompanied by high winds and low visibility which can make opening the mountain challenging. You can get the most up-to-date lift information on the Palisades Tahoe app or the Lift + Grooming Status webpage. We update both of these sources at 5:30 p.m. the previous day with the anticipated lift offerings.

Have you ever wanted to do a pro call-out and then race one of the many professional athletes here at Palisades Tahoe? Well, now you can! Every Wednesday night is Town Race League , where local racers of all levels come together to compete in a series of exciting alpine races. This community competition is perfect for skiers and snowboarders looking to challenge themselves and showcase their skills. This series will continue every Wednesday night through April 9 with a new theme each week. Each week we will pick the best dressed racer to win a prize! This past week was Mardi Gras theme, and the one-and-only Daron Rahlves made an appearance and charged down Julia’s Gold Run. Maybe next week you can challenge the 4x Olympian, 12x FIS World Cup wins, XGames Champion to a race?
Parking
As a reminder, parking reservations are required every weekend and select holiday periods. Unless it is a holiday period, midweek parking remains free and first come, first served. We recommend carpooling as a great way to make sure all your friends get to the mountain to ride together. If you are trying to get to the mountain without your personal vehicle, there are other free options: the Sherwood Shuttle, the Mountaineer Shuttle, which offers free rides in Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows, TART, and the free Park and Ride, available in both Truckee and Tahoe City with frequent rides between 6:30 a.m. and 5:45 p.m.
