Following 20″ of fresh snow in the previous 24 hours and bluebird skies, I decided to hit Alpine—I just couldn’t resist The Face under the Summit chair line. Other skiers’ hooting and hollering tell you everything you need to know.

It felt like Christmas morning after it dumped snow all day yesterday, and we woke to bluebird skies today. Palisades Tahoe reported 20” of snow in the last 24 hours, so we knew the people would be getting after it today.
On days like this, I do a quick check on the Palisades Tahoe app to help guide the decision of where to ski. I saw some mechanical holds at Palisades, so we decided to hit Alpine.
To my surprise, the parking lot was not as full as I had expected when I pulled in at 8:15 am. I was able to get a decent spot and jump into the Roundhouse line with the masses. Treeline Cirque, Yellow, Meadow, and the big magic carpet were all on the schedule. I was considering jumping into the TLC line due to the size of the Roundhouse line, but I just couldn’t resist The Face under the Summit chair line.
The line actually moved quickly, and I made my way over to the face for some soft, glorious pow turns. The storm came in cold last night, so the snow quality was primo. We heard lots of hooting and hollering from the chair as skiers and riders were enjoying all the fresh new snow.
After a couple of laps on Roundhouse, we ventured over to check out some of the other lifts. We took Treeline Cirque and were pleasantly surprised to see all of the terrain under Yellow chair now open. We took a quick lap down a perfectly groomed Weasel trail to enjoy some turns there. Beware that it’s still early season and obstacles still exist when you venture off-trail.
Overall, it was a super fun day, and it was nice to ski through the soft wintery snow. Another storm is in the forecast for Saturday and Sunday, so we’ll get to do it all over again soon!
