Another Week of Dry Weather:
The high-pressure ridge over the West Coast starts to shift west a bit over the weekend but stays close enough to keep us dry. It will just allow in some colder air for Monday, and then shifts back over the region through next Friday the 24th. That will keep us dry through the 24th.
We should see mostly sunny skies each day with highs in the 40s outside of the cooldown into the 30s on Monday. We will likely see gusty northeast winds as well on Monday which could affect some upper mountain lifts.
Possible Pattern Change:
The long-range models continue to show the mean ridge position shifting up toward the Aleutian Islands during the last week of January with a trough digging into the West. But likely only enough for colder air and maybe some weaker systems from the north.
Some of the forecast models have been flirting with the idea of a low tracking south right along the coast around the 26th that could tap some Pacific moisture. If it tracks just right and moves slowly that could bring us a decent storm, but it could also stay over land and we just get a few snow showers.
Long-Range Forecast:
The pattern is still forecast to continue to shift into the first week of February, with the trough digging farther west off of the coast. That could open the door to wetter storms. We’ll have to see if this sticks as we get closer. I’m hopeful we only have to ride out one more week of completely dry weather.
