Dry thru Wed, Showers Thu

Spring Days:

High pressure is building in over the region starting Sunday, becoming quite strong by Monday, and lasting into Wednesday.

We will have clear skies and sunny days with mild temperatures. Highs into the 50s for the lower elevations on Sunday and then 60s for Monday – Wednesday. Gusty winds are possible by Wednesday afternoon as the next storm approaches.

Wednesday Night – Thursday Storm:

A large low-pressure system slowly approaches the West Coast and directs moisture into the Pacific NW by midweek through the end of the week. We will be on the southern edge with showers possible Wednesday night through Thursday evening.

Highs drop into the 40s for the lower elevations on Thursday and 30s for the higher elevations, with ridgetop winds gusting up to 70-90+ mph from the SW. That will likely close some upper mountain lifts.

The snow levels start very high up around 10,000 – 11,000 ft. Wednesday evening, and only fall to around 7000-8000 ft. by Thursday evening. We will likely see mostly rain showers Wednesday night with some wet snow above 8000 ft. Thursday, and maybe a flake or two to 7000 or lower Thu night.

That doesn’t even warrant a snowfall forecast as the peaks may only see a dusting of snow up to 1 inch.

Friday – Saturday Weather:

The large area of low pressure spinning in the northeast Pacific is expected to keep troughing near the West Coast, with additional storms moving into the West Coast. But they show a break between storms Friday into Saturday.

We could see partly-mostly sunny skies both days with highs into the 40s for the lower elevations and 30s for the higher elevations above 8000 ft.

Long-Range Forecast:

By next Sunday the 30th into the week of the 31st we could see more storms move through, and farther south into northern CA as the trough stays near the West Coast through the 5th-6th of April.

Most of these storms look to be weak-moderate strength/wet. But each could bring measurable rain and snow. We’ll be watching the Sunday storm closely all week.
