In a recent accolade from the prestigious Wall Street Journal, Palisades Tahoe secured the coveted title of the best ski resort in the United States and ranked an impressive second in all of North America. This recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to sharing the spirit of our legendary mountains with the world. We strive for excellence, offering an unparalleled skiing or snowboarding experience amidst the breathtaking backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountains, just a few miles down the road from Lake Tahoe itself.

What makes Palisades Tahoe the best?

Unmatched Terrain

One of the key factors contributing to Palisades Tahoe’s top ranking is its expansive and diverse terrain. Boasting over 6,000 acres of skiable terrain across two unique mountains, the resort caters to skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels, from beginners to seasoned experts. Known for its challenging steeps, Palisades Tahoe has some of the most renowned and recognizable terrain in ski culture.

Two Mountains, Now United

You don’t have to choose between the high-octane energy and legacy of Palisades or the laid-back but adventurous vibe at Alpine. You have the ability to create your own adventure at these two distinctly different, neighboring mountains. This is all made possible by the Base to Base Gondola, which opened at long last in 2022 after years of dreaming.

Legendary Snowfall

Palisades Tahoe is renowned for its abundant snowfall, with an average of over 400 inches of snow each season. Who could forget the epic 2022-23 winter season, where we stashed up 723 inches of snow and kept Alpine open through the 4th of July? In fact, in the last 10 years, Palisades Tahoe has been open until (or past) the 4th of July FOUR times!

Proximity to Lake Tahoe

Some call Palisades Tahoe the eighth wonder of the world. Why? It is an awe-inspiring landscape that stands as a testament to nature’s artistry. Situated beside Lake Tahoe, it is more than a mountain destination. It’s an adventurer’s haven, famous for its unique weather patterns that deliver unparalleled snow experiences. Just down the road is another one of the world’s most incredible beauties: Lake Tahoe. You’ll never forget the crystal clear blue water.

Spring Skiing Capital

Speaking of Lake Tahoe, the Spring season lets guests of Palisades Tahoe experience the best of both worlds: Ski in the morning, water ski or lounge on the beach in the afternoon. Multi-sport days are one of the coolest parts of experiencing Lake Tahoe’s longest ski season. Palisades Tahoe is reliably open until Memorial Day or longer year after year.

World-Class Events and Entertainment

Beyond its world-class skiing, Palisades Tahoe is also known for its vibrant apres-ski scene and exciting lineup of events and entertainment. From live music performances (like Ludacris and Dillon Francis) to outdoor festivals like WinterWonderGrass or Lake Tahoe Reggae Festival, there’s always something happening at the resort to keep guests entertained both on and off the mountain.

Whether you’re a seasoned skier or a first-time visitor, Palisades Tahoe offers an unforgettable alpine experience that will keep you coming back year after year. It’s no wonder that Palisades Tahoe has been named the #1 ski resort in the United States and #2 in North America by the Wall Street Journal.
