Temporary Terrain Closures

Silverado, 2/12/25 by Blake Kessler

Due to warming temperatures, the mountain operations team has decided to temporarily close Silverado, as well as some of the hike-able terrain at Alpine including High Traverse, Beaver Bowl, Estelle Bowl, Bernie’s Bowl, The Buttress and potentially Scott Chute for a few days this upcoming week (March 24-26). During these three days, there will be no overnight freezing temperatures and very warm daytime temperatures.

Without freezing temperatures to help get us into a freeze-thaw cycle, the snow would get overworked with skiers and could cause wet slides and challenges for patrol teams. This temporary closure aims to preserve the snowpack so that it lasts longer for spring skiing. The temperatures are forecasted to dip back down again on Thursday, March 27 and some precipitation is projected for later on in the week. We hope to re-open these areas on March 27, weather and conditions permitting.

Open Snow’s snowfall forecast as of 10:00 a.m. 3/24/2025
