Weather
There are scattered showers today through this evening with snow levels near mid-mountain in the afternoon and then dropping back down in the evening. Tomorrow we should see mainly sunny skies with highs in the 30s and 40s.
Forecasting storm systems can be challenging during the spring as we are in the middle of a season turn-over and temperatures and snow totals are more difficult to accurately predict. Open Snow forecasts a stronger storm to hit the Sierras on Sunday with the heaviest snowfall expected for Monday during the day. The snow continues into Tuesday evening and by Wednesday morning we could have over 2 feet of snow up top. For a more in-depth forecast, read the weather blog by Open Snow’s Bryan Allegretto.
The Toyota U.S. Mogul Freestyle Championships are here with the top competitors competing on Red Dog Face this weekend, March 28-30.
Conditions
Conditions are variable. After a week of sunshine and highs in the 50s, our base softened up quite a bit. Now that temperatures are dropping again we have freezing overnight with a firm base. Saturday should be full-on spring skiing, with firmer conditions in the morning and then softening up throughout the day so make sure to follow the sun. With the weather being challenging to forecast, our best guess is that conditions will be variable, and you can find everything from firm and icy patches to some powder.
Hot Tip: Start each day this upcoming week on the groomers, and when venturing off-piste, ski and ride cautiously and within your ability level. We still have a lot of season left (until Memorial Day, weather and conditions permitting) and you don’t want to miss out on the beautiful days to come.

Operations
Looking forward, Olympic Lady, Broken Arrow, and Alpine Bowl Chair will remain off-schedule for the remainder of the season, but the good news is that the terrain is accessible in other ways. Emigrant, Solitude, and First Venture will be coming off the midweek schedule but will remain open on the weekends, weather and conditions permitting.
There will be some gusty conditions with this storm cycle that could affect lift operations. You can get the most up-to-date lift information on the Palisades Tahoe app or the Lift + Grooming Status webpage. We update both of these sources at 5:30 p.m. the previous day with the anticipated lift offerings.
