Operations Update: The Ultimate Fusion of Snow Sports and Golf

Snow Golf at Alpine

A fusion of snow sports and golf with a little spice of tennis? Sign me up! This weekend is chock-full of fun events, free live music, and absolutely ripping spring skiing conditions. Can’t wait to see you out here!

Weather

No surprises here, you can expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the 50s and 60s. If you want a more in-depth look at the weather check out the weather blog by Open Snow’s Bryan Allegretto.

Conditions

We may sound like a broken record at this point but it is time to harvest spring corn! The snow will start firmer in the morning and soften throughout the day, with the South and East facing slopes getting softer first. It is recommended to wax your gear, especially later in the day when the snow can get heavier and a bit sticky. We offer a quick hot wax at our rental locations, so no need to worry if you haven’t had a chance for a tune-up before arriving.

Operations

Skiing and riding is on the menu 7 days a week through Memorial Day!

Palisades

Lifts: After Sunday, April 20, Resort Chair, Red Dog, Emigrant, and Solitude will be off-schedule for the remainder of the season.

Terrain Parks: We are hosting the Level1 Super Unknown scouting event with the best up-and-coming parks athletes from April 21-25. Due to this event, we will be closing the Gold Coast Park Monday through Friday. The new Emigrant Gully Terrain Park will continue to be open to the public. The Gold Coast Terrain Park will re-open to the public Saturday, April 26. We plan to have a terrain park offering all the way through closing day (weather and conditions permitting)

Alpine

While we will be skiing and riding through Memorial Day, the last day to ride Alpine is April 27.

Lifts: After Sunday, April 20, Meadow and the Big Carpet will be closed for the remainder of the season. Subway, Alpine Bowl Chair, Lakeview, Yellow, and Kangaroo are done for the season as well.

The Sherwood and Scott Switch: Alpine is serious about Cornology, and our operations team makes calculated decisions based on the conditions for what terrain can open and when. We will continue to have a Sherwood/Scott switch through April 27. In the morning, we run the Sherwood chair, and as it gets warmed by the morning sun, and will soften first. Once the conditions shift and the snow gets too heavy, we will close Sherwood and open Scott Chair.

Snow Golf at Alpine: The one and only Snow Golf returns for it’s 39th year at Alpine! Ditch the ski jacket for a collared shirt and khakis, as the only top-to-bottom snow golf ten-hole course starts at the top of Summit Express chair and meanders its way down the mountain with the last holes bringing competitors to The Chalet for a Caddyshack-themed afterparty and a raffle benefitting AARF!

  • First come, first serve starting at 8am.
  • Registration is FREE at Alpine base area. You must have a valid lift ticket or season pass.

Palisades Queer Ski: Join us for a fabulous day of fun, skiing and dancing. We’ll have a group ride down Gold Coast at 11:30 am followed by a dance party at Gold Coast and Plaza Bar from 12-3 pm that will have you moving and grooving. Plus, out on the slopes, we encourage you to dress up and show off your pride!

Spring Tracks Free Music Series: There is free live music all over the mountain! There is a live DJ at Gold Coast Lodge from 11-2 pm, the Jive Machine playing at the Alpine Lodge from 2-5 pm, and to capstone our Spring Tracks Music Series is the one and only KT Tunstall on the KT Deck from 4-5 pm!

The Golden Egg Hunt: Our annual Golden Egg Hunt is back! At both Palisades and Alpine, a Golden Egg will be hidden, and inside is a 25-26 Palisades Tahoe season pass! Follow along on our Instagram stories throughout the day as we give out clues on the hour to help you find where we’ve hidden the Golden Egg. These clues are challenging and fun. You’ll need solid knowledge of the mountain and creativity to find them!

Avalanche beacons will be buried in a one-acre area and competitors will work individually or in teams of up to four people to locate them. Competitors can redeem a found beacon for prizes. This is a free event, and registration takes place at the top of Subway chair from 10-11:30 am. The beacon search will start at 12 pm.

*Guests should bring their own avalanche beacon, probe and shovel*

The Skiing Easter Bunny: In lieu of a traditional Easter-egg hunt, we will have an Easter Bunny with chocolate eggs and candy skiing around the mountain passing out treats!

We’ve got some of the nation’s top ski and snowboard instructors at Palisades Tahoe, and it is never too late to learn! The last day for the Alpine Mountain Sports Schools is April 20. The Palisades Mountain Sports Schools will remain open daily through April 27, and then switch to only reservation-based private lessons through Memorial Day. Book your lesson here.
