We know that seeing parking reservations are sold out can create a moment of uncertainty, but don’t worry—you still have plenty of great options to make the most of your visit. Here’s what to do next:
1. Take Advantage of Convenient Transportation Options
- Park & Ride Services:
- Take advantage of free shuttles from Truckee and Tahoe City to The Village at Palisades Tahoe every Saturday and Sunday through April 13, 2025. Shuttles run frequently from 6:30 AM to 5:45 PM, and as a bonus, riders receive a $10 voucher for any Palisades Tahoe-owned food and beverage outlet, valid the same day—perfect for a post-ski treat! Park & Ride from Tahoe City or Truckee.
- Sherwood Shuttle:
- On weekends, weather and conditions permitting, guests can park at the Sunnyside Resort parking lot on the West Shore and catch a free shuttle directly to the Sherwood Chairlift at Alpine. The first shuttle departs at 8:30 AM, with the last return at 4:00 PM. This service offers a direct and scenic route to the slopes, bypassing the main base area congestion. See full schedule and details.
- Mountaineer Shuttle:
- Enjoy free, on-demand rides within Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows. No need to worry about parking—just request a ride and go! The Mountaineer has expanded operating hours for the 2024-25 season, making it a seamless and hassle-free way to get around. Download the app and request a ride.

2. Arrive After 1 PM and Stay for Après
If your schedule allows, consider arriving after 1 PM, when parking reservations are no longer required. Not only will you skip the morning rush, but you can also enjoy a relaxed afternoon on the slopes and stick around for après-ski, avoiding the peak traffic leaving the resort. Grab a drink, unwind, and make the most of your mountain experience.

3. Carpool for a Fun and Eco-Friendly Ride
Find a friend who already has a parking reservation—it helps reduce traffic and minimize environmental impact. Plus, it means you can split gas costs and enjoy the drive together. Please note that even carpool vehicles still require a reservation on weekends and holiday periods. Carpool vehicles (defined as 3 or more persons) can park anywhere within the specified base area.
Insider Tip: Check for Cancellations
Reservations can be cancelled up until 9am the morning-of. This means that a limited inventory of spots may become available on a first-come, first-served basis. While this is not guaranteed, it’s worth checking.
What Not to Do…
- Please do not attempt to park in our lots before 1pm without a reservation when they are required. Be aware that arriving before 1 PM on weekends and holiday periods without a reservation will result in a parking violation.
- If you currently hold a reservation and had a change of plans, please be a considerate member of our mountain community and open up a space for others. Cancel before 9 AM on the day of your reservation to avoid penalties.
