Don’t Miss This View: High Camp & Palisades Aerial Tram
Take a ride on the Palisades Tahoe Aerial Tram during the summer for an experience unlike anything else. You’ll see fields of wildflowers, the Sierra Nevada mountain range, and Lake Tahoe. Sit back and relax after hiking up Shirley Canyon to get back to The Village at Palisades Tahoe, take the kids up for some barbeque at High Camp, or enjoy a romantic ride with a significant other. The 9-minute ride up to panoramic views from 8,200 feet in elevation is a can’t-miss activity this summer.
PRO TIP: This summer, KIDS RIDE FREE on the Aerial Tram. That’s right, kids 12 and under can ride free of charge. You wil still need to pick up a physical ticket for them at our Tram Ticket Office.
At High Camp
- Step out onto the main deck and scope one of the most iconic photo backdrops in the Lake Tahoe region. Get your photo taken with the colorful Olympic Rings and dazzling Lake Tahoe or peer out at our namesake, The Palisades.
- Join one of our The North Face Guided Hikes, which leave daily at 11am and 1pm. You’ll learn about the local flora and fauna as well as some fun resort operation facts. This is a mellow one-mile loop. Due to variable terrain, sturdy footwear is recommended.
- Roller skating at 8,200 feet for FREE! That’s right, even our rentals are free. You are also welcome to bring your own equipment. Spin about or start a game of pick-up hockey. The views from this rink are unforgettable!
- Don’t miss out on the High Camp Marketplace. Hand-crafted coffee, espresso, and tea beverages are available along with a selection of pastries and to-go food. Plus, you’ll be able to grab necessities here like sunscreen, hats, and water.
Regional Outdoor Activities
- Hike up Shirley Canyon and go swimming in one of the natural waterfalls spilling over the granite. You can take the Palisades Tahoe Aerial Tram back down for FREE between 10am and 4:30pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
- Hit the beach. You’ll want to arrive early no matter where you go and bring plenty of sun protection.
- Rent bikes from Parallel Mountain Sports. You can bike from The Village at Palisades Tahoe to the Truckee River. From there, enjoy a mellow cruise and stop for a dip whenever you’d like.
- Stroll through Tahoe City. If you’ve got little ones, the playground on Commons Beach is a must.
- Dine outside in historic downtown Truckee or in The Village at Palisades Tahoe.
