1. Hike Shirley Canyon (3.6 miles. 2,109′ elevation gain/loss)
One of Lake Tahoe’s best half-day hikes, the Shirley Canyon trail takes you from flowing waterfalls and Shirley Lake to High Camp. Take the Aerial Tram back down for free. Read the full hiking guide here
2. Scenic Aerial Tram Ride
Take the Aerial Tram to High Camp. This 8.5 minute ride takes you up 2,000 feet and has stunning views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
3. High Camp Pool & Hot Tub
Take a dip in the mountaintop pool and hot tub. At 8,200 feet, this experience is one-of-a-kind. Enjoy poolside drinks from Umbrella Bar while you’re soaking up the mountain views.

6. Climb the Via Ferrata
Explore Squaw Valley’s iconic Tram Face on the new Via Ferrata route. With multiple options for experience level and route length, the Via Ferrata is a fun, challenging option with breathtaking view. Learn More.
7. Hike the Five Lakes Trail at Alpine Meadows
With a trailhead located on Alpine Meadows Road, this popular 5-mile hike has a moderate level of difficulty. Be prepared for some exposed switchbacks in the beginning and enjoy the Alpine Lakes at the top!
8. Bike to Tahoe City along the Truckee River
Rent bikes from Parallel Mountain Sports in the village and take the bike path all the way from Squaw Valley into Commons Beach in Tahoe City.
9. Go Rafting on the Truckee River
Rent a raft from one of the rafting companies located in Tahoe City and enjoy a leisurely float from Tahoe City to Alpine Meadows. You can also buy your own raft from one of the region’s sporting goods stores, but be cautious as water levels are high this year.
10. Go Shopping
The Village at Squaw Valley is bustling with boutiques and gift shops. Plus, Ikon Pass holders get 15% off and Ikon Base Pass holders receive 10% off on Squaw-owned retail shops. Excludes Patagonia and hard goods such as skis & helmets.
