It’s a holiday weekend! While this is an exciting time to get away and enjoy some skiing, keep in mind that holidays can be busy at Palisades Tahoe. Here is what you need to know in order to have an enjoyable, seamless weekend.
Weather
It will mostly be sunny this weekend, which is great! Enjoy the warm, bluebird days that remind us of spring skiing. On Sunday and Monday, we could see some snow, so plan your travel accordingly. We recommend using the CalTrans Quick Map to check road closures or to see if you might need chains. You can also read Palisades Tahoe-specific predictions on our near-daily weather blog.
Will this affect lift operations?
Overall, we are expecting a mellow weekend in terms of weather, but high winds and stormy conditions can lead to impacted lift operations. The best way to stay up-to-date is to check the Palisades Tahoe Mobile App or the Palisades Tahoe Mountain Operations Twitter. We will also post an Operations Blog if there are any major changes or impacts.
Current Conditions
We received a dusting of 2″ of snow this week. While it is always great to get some precipitation, this amount of snowfall will not lead to any big changes in conditions. Snow continues to be firm and fast, so remember to follow the sun throughout your day.
Stay Safe Out There
- Stay on-piste, sticking to groomed runs, to avoid icy or unsafe conditions.
- Slow down, especially at trail merges and near lift lines. Always check uphill at merges.
- Pay attention to all signage, including boundary markings and “SLOW” signage.
- Give a minimum of 15 feet of distance between you and other skiers/snowboarders. Stay alert and be aware of where other skiers/snowboarders are, especially when passing.
- If you are involved in a collision, notify Ski Patrol immediately. It is illegal to leave the scene of a collision except to get help.
Parking
Our parking is likely to fill up at both mountains this weekend. You can check the status of all our parking lots on the Palisades Tahoe Mobile App using our new parking feature. A great option to consider, especially if parking fills, is our FREE Park & Ride from either Tahoe City or Truckee. This convenient shuttle runs frequently between both towns and Palisades starting around 7:30am. Get the FULL details on the Park & Ride.
Can I reserve parking in advance?
If you want to guarantee a spot for yourself, some parking is available to pre-purchase for Alpine, but otherwise, all of our parking is free, and it is first-come, first-served.
What should I do if parking fills up? Can I get a refund?
If we say our parking is full, it is FULL. We will not have spots in our lots until later in the afternoon. If you are unable to park at either mountain and need to make a change to your lesson, rental, or demo, you can fill out our lessons & rentals cancelation form. For lift tickets and activities, please give us a call at 1-800-403-0206. We honor all refunds that are requested due to park-out conditions.
I’m staying in Olympic Valley or in Alpine Meadows. Do I have to drive to the resort and park?
No! If you are staying in either community located at the base of each of our mountains, you can use the free Mountaineer shuttle. This shuttle can be summoned like a Lyft/Uber via the Mountaineer app, and it can take you anywhere within each valley — to your AirBnB, to the resort, to a restaurant, etc. However, if you want to go between the two mountains, you’ll want to take the Palisades Tahoe Express Shuttle. The Mountaineer is for each valley only and does not go between Alpine and Palisades.
Ticket & Pass Information
Here are a few important reminders for this weekend:
- Ikon Base Pass and Ikon Session 4-Day Pack holders are blacked out on Saturday and Sunday (the 19th and 20th). 25% off Blackout Date lift tickets are available to pass holders in person at the ticket windows for both days.
- Ikon Friends & Family tickets do not sell out and are available. These tickets can be purchased day-of at any ticket window or online. Have your Ikon Pass login handy if you are purchasing online.
- If you have Friends & Family tickets for a Palisades Tahoe Military Pass, Palisades Tahoe Season Pass, Tahoe Super 4-Pack, or the Midweek 4 Pack, these also do not sell out and must be purchased in person. Please note: Military Friends & Family tickets are blacked out on weekends.
