The 2018-19 Season Kicks Off on Friday!
Thanks to weeks of preparation by our mountain operations teams, cold nightly temperatures and the tremendous efforts of our snowmakers, we are kicking off the 2018-19 season this Friday, November 16 with terrain opening at both mountains!
What’s Opening at Alpine Meadows
Alpine Meadows will be kicking off winter with the Kangaroo lift spinning this Friday! Join us to make your first turns of the season down the intermediate groomed Kangaroo run from 9am-4pm. Get there early for coffee and free giveaways, and stick around after the slopes to grab a snack or drink at the newly remodeled Last Chair Bar in the Alpine Lodge!

At Squaw Valley, First Venture chairlift and the SnoVentures Carpet will open on Friday from 9am-4pm for beginner terrain only. One lane of snow tubing will be open in the SnoVentures area, and the Aerial Tram will open for sightseeing only with food and drink available at the High Camp Marketplace. Half day beginner group and private lessons will available for all ages! Restaurants and shops throughout The Village will open for shopping & dining.
Tickets & Passes for Opening Day
If you are an Ikon Pass holder, be sure to bring your Ikon Pass with you to Opening Day! If you haven’t received your Ikon Pass in the mail, stop into the ticket office at either mountain to get yours printed out. Beginner ski tickets for SnoVentures at Squaw Valley will be on sale for $49 and snow tubing is $40/session. Day tickets at Alpine Meadows start at $84 for adults when you buy in advance online. Be sure to check out our Opening Day Checklist to make sure you’re ready for your first day on the mountain this season!
Expanded POW Carpool Parking & Paid Parking Lot at Squaw Valley
For the best parking, grab your friends and carpool to the slopes this season. Vehicles with three or more people get free access to premium Protect Our Winters “POW Parking,” situated in a prime location directly north of The Village at Squaw Valley. POW Parking is a partnership with Protect Our Winters to offer free premium parking as a reward to guests who carpool to Squaw & Alpine, with a goal to reduce traffic and the resort’s carbon footprint. Due to the popularity of the program, the Pow Parking area at Squaw Valley has quadrupled. POW Parking will also be available for paid parking for non-carpool vehicles, with all spaces available on a first come, first served basis.
Thank you snowmakers!
