The Spring corn harvest has really been juicing lately, but when a snowflake popped into the forecast last night, I didn’t mind– though, as my friend said, I might be the only person in Tahoe who feels that way. Sun or snow, it’s a treat at this point, and this morning’s report dialed in the forecasted 6” received at Olympic Valley.
As of 7 o clock this morning, it is official: 22/23 has taken the #1 spot for SNOWIEST SEASON ON RECORD! When we first reported snow this morning at 4:58 am, about 6 inches had fallen and it was still coming down. This means that at 5am, we had 706 inches of snow so far this season, and we knew we only needed 2 more inches to beat our all-time season snowfall record of 707 inches…
We started soon after the 9 am open, knowing any Southeast-facing aspects catching morning sun would already have a couple hours softening, which puts some classic corn routes in prime condition first thing.
Today’s conditions were a full-on spring slush hunting mission, from KT and Headwall to the Park and Sun Spot. The mountain took a bit to soften up with the cold temps last night and by late afternoon the warmer temps made spots in the sun rip!

Today was a fantastic day to be snowboarding at Alpine with the sunny skies and warm temperatures. It’s totally worth it to come up this week to the mountain to get those spring turns in and work on your google tan!
Spring has sprung at Palisades, making for a lovely day of warm weather, strong sunshine, and epic riding.

Today’s weather was sunny with a few clouds, temperatures in the 40s, and no wind, which meant it was the perfect spring skiing day to be up in Tahoe. It was definitely a blackout goggle day, and sunblock was obligatory.
It’s official – we’ve reached the 700″ mark for snowfall this season! That’s right, you read that correctly – 700 INCHES of snow have blanketed our mountain since the start of the season. For context, our average seasonal snowfall is a whopping 400 inches. Can you believe it? We certainly can’t, but we’re not complaining. And the best part? There are many days of epic skiing and riding still ahead of us, as we’ll be keeping our lifts spinning all the way through the 4th of July!
Over the past few weeks, our Ski Patrol teams have been noticing that significant glide cracks are appearing in frequently traveled areas across both Alpine and Palisades. These will be a safety hazard this spring, so we wanted to give you more information about what they are and how to avoid them.
We received 191 inches of snow in March, bringing our season total to 692 inches. That’s 173% of our annual season average of 400 inches! This is the 3rd largest March snowfall we’ve seen in the last 22 years.
