Windy Thu-Fri, Another Nice Weekend Ahead

Thursday – Friday:

Sun and clouds with gusty winds up top Thursday ahead of a dry cold front moving through Thursday night. Winds start out southwest and turn to the northwest by Thursday night, gusting up to 70+ mph up top. That should put some upper mountain lifts on wind hold.

Then Friday the winds turn northeast and east and could gust up to 50+ mph up top by afternoon. Possibly affecting some upper mountain lifts. Highs in the 40s Thursday and dropping into the 30s on the mountain behind the cold front for Friday. Clearing skies with mostly sunny skies for Friday.

The Weekend:

We could see winds gusting up to 40+ mph up top Saturday morning, but then lighter winds are forecast for the rest of the weekend. We should see nice weather with sunny skies. Highs into the 40s at the base and 30s up top.

Long-Range:

Right now, the drier pattern is forecast to continue another week, through at least Sunday the 23rd. That could change but the pattern forecast doesn’t support any storms moving in through right now.

The pattern could start to shift the week of the 24th through the end of the month with the high-pressure ridge shifting farther away from the West Coast. That could start to at least allow some weak systems into the northern Sierra.

We will continue to watch the weather pattern trends for a pattern that could open the northern CA storm door back up. We will keep you updated and let you know as soon as we see fresh snow returning.
