Showers Possible Tuesday thru Thursday

Afternoon Showers Possible:

We will go from sunny skies and highs in the 60s on Monday to partly sunny skies and temperatures cooling a few degrees each day. Snow levels above 10,000 ft. Tuesday and 9,000 ft. Wednesday, as a few afternoon showers could pop up.

By Thursday, a trough digging south into the Rockies will bring more moisture to the region, with possibly the best chance for afternoon showers and colder temperatures. Highs drop into the 50s for the lower elevations and 40s for the higher elevations. The snow levels could drop to around 8000 ft.

Even though the precipitation totals look decent on some forecast models by Thursday night, remember that snow levels are above the peaks through Wednesday. Thursday is the best shot to see some snow on the peaks around Tahoe. Maybe a dusting up to an inch or two above 8000 ft.

The Weekend:

High pressure builds in for the weekend with a drier pattern expected. Highs in the 40s on the mountains to near 50 degrees at lake level on Friday, then warming into the 50s for the weekend with mostly sunny skies.

Long-Range Forecast:

Another cool trough is forecast to dig into the West the week of the 21st. That could bring another round of cooler temperatures and maybe afternoon showers on a few days.

By the end of the month, the long-range models suggest that high pressure is more established over the West, with a drier and milder pattern.

There are no signs of a storm outside of afternoon showers. We’ll continue to watch for any late season storms through the end of April.
