Saturday – Sunday:
Not much change in the weather we’ve been seeing through Sunday. We are finishing out a dry and mild pattern. Sunny days with highs into the 50s, and 40s for the higher elevations. Light winds through Saturday with ridgetop gusts starting to increase slightly by Sunday. Overnight inversions continue with poor snowmaking conditions at night on the upper mountain.
Monday Cool Front:
Monday a cold front moves down from the north with cooler air. Highs in the 40s. Gusty winds from the northwest gusting up to 50+ mph. We could see a shower or two Monday afternoon with snow levels above 8000 ft. But this system is pretty dry.
Tuesday – Wednesday:
Some cooler air filters in behind the front Monday night through Tuesday night. We may see slightly better snowmaking conditions with colder temperatures on the upper mountain. Tuesday & Wednesday should be mostly sunny but with highs in the 40s.
Thursday Storm:
A colder and wetter cold front is expected to move through Thursday. We have another cold trough digging south but this time farther West just off the CA coast. This will allow this system to possibly tap into some Pacific moisture. That would bring some steady snow to the base on Thursday with lingering snow showers possible into Thursday night.
We will be watching this system closely. Right now it looks like several inches of snow are possible. More details as we get closer. Cold air behind the storm should make for good snowmaking and possibly around the clock through Friday.
Long-Range:
Behind the storm, it should be colder through next weekend. Right now Saturday -Sunday the 11th – 12th look dry. But the good snowmaking conditions should continue through the weekend. Highs only in the 20s for Friday and 30s Saturday – Sunday, with overnight lows in the teens.
A ridge centered near the Aleutians and a trough along the West Coast going into the week of the 13th could be a good setup for cold & wet West Coast storms. We could see additional storms the week of the 13th to add to the Thursday storm and ongoing snowmaking. Fingers crossed…
