There is still great snow coverage on the upper mountain (15 feet in areas!) and plenty more spring skiing in our future. Take a look at terrain and operations updates for the week.
KT-22 now closed for the season

What a season we’ve had on one of the most legendary chairlifts on the continent. From feet of powder in January to perfect spring corn, KT-22 has provided unforgettable days of skiing and riding at Squaw Valley this season. And to top it off, our crews kept the lift spinning until 7pm again on its closing day! After the threats of lightning subsided, we made this season’s final 22 kick turns down the soft spring snow off The Mothership.
Please note: hiking is allowed via the reverse traverse from Siberia to Headwall, conditions permitting.
The Silver Lining: Granite Chief reopened!
The Chief Zone is back and the conditions are so much fun! With the closure of KT-22, we were able to relocate ski patrol, lift operators and other staff to focus on spinning Granite Chief. Since the zone has been closed for a week, the snow is smooth and perfect for carving spring turns. Although it hasn’t been freezing at night, the shaded tree areas off Granite are always great for spring snow shielded from the beating sun.
Update: The slopes in The Chief zone have great coverage, but the snow at the top is melting fast. In order to keep the area open, we must have enough snow on the safety road from Emigrant to the top of Granite Chief. Access road conditions will be assessed each morning by our groomers and patrollers, and we will operate Granite Chief until the road closes.
Mountain Run still open
The temperatures have been warm causing greater snow melt on the lower mountain, but Mountain Run is still open! And it’s skiable almost all the way down, with very little walking at the bottom of the trail.
If walking in ski boots isn’t your thing, just head to Gold Coast and download via the Funitel to the base of the mountain.
High Camp Hot Tub open daily
The High Camp Hot Tub is now open daily from 11am-4pm. Take a break from the slopes and soak in the sun, or make a special trip up to High Camp via the Aerial Tram. Updates on the pool coming soon!
Still open midweek through June 4
This is the final week that Squaw Valley will be open for skiing and riding daily, so be sure to come make some midweek turns! After June 4, Squaw lifts will be open Saturdays and Sundays in June, July 1-4 and possibly longer if the snow lasts!
