Operations Update: End of May Expectations

We are nearing the end of the 23/24 season, and we know you all are eager to find out what will happen over the next few weeks. There are two things we want you to keep in mind:

  1. Temperatures are going to warm up significantly over the coming week. We will not be getting freezing temperatures at night and our snowpack will start to deteriorate at a faster rate.
  2. As we’ve been saying in our recent blogs, we plan to keep chairlifts and terrain open until we just can’t ski it anymore. Things are going to start to close. KT and Headwall are likely the next to close. We don’t have a specific date in mind. Get it while you can.

As for what will be open all the way to the end (Monday, May 27th), we will do our very best to keep the following chairlifts open: Siberia, Gold Coast, Shirley, and Granite Chief. We may be able to keep some beginner terrain at the top of the Aerial Tram, but that is still to be determined.

While out on the hill, you may see some of our Lift Maintenance teams starting to work on their summer projects. Contrary to popular belief, we don’t just close down the lifts in May, leave, and come back in November. Summer is the busiest time for our Lift Maintenance teams. They use the warmer months to take care of our larger, more in-depth projects that would be difficult to complete while we are open and there is snow on the ground.

SPRING GROOMING FAQ

We are getting a ton of questions about how we maintain slopes in warm temperatures. Check out our Spring Grooming FAQ, and leave a comment if you still have questions! Read The Blog.
