TODAY’S OPERATIONS: APRIL 8, 2017
Another 10″ overnight set the stage for an awesome powder day – we love a good April pow day! There is a big difference between upper mountain and lower mountain snow. There’s much more up top and less than at the bottom. Today we had a few challenges. Mainly, there was ice buildup on lifts that our teams had to hack off the ropeline and shives. We also had a lift derailment on Bailey’s Beach due to the high winds we were experiencing yesterday. We had crews stay overnight at the top of Summit to bump the lift and prevent icing, but there was lightning in the area overnight that did not allow for operation. Alpine Bowl did not get going today because it is completely buried under snow…again.

Projected Operations for Sunday, April 9
- Crews have been working on de-icing Headwall, Solitude and Silverado and they are on the schedule for tomorrow. Headwall is on the schedule to open at 9am and Silverado and Solitude are unknown at this time until patrol goes in and assesses the situation.
- Red Dog is scheduled to undergo maintenance Sunday-Tuesday. Stay tuned for re-opening date.
- All 13 lifts at Alpine Meadows are on the schedule for 9am
On track for another storm next week
Next Wednesday night through Friday another cold storm may bring additional snowfall. It could come in feet again on the mountains. That will be the focus after this storm.
The pattern could remain active through April.
