This Weekend’s Events: Tahoe Truckee Earth Day, Spring Tracks Concert Continues

  • Apr 20, 2021

A crowd of people taking a shotski at the Spring Tracks concert

With more than two feet of snow since last week, the Spring Skiing Capital is living up to its reputation. If you missed out on all the excitement of Cushing Crossing, the Golden Egg Hunt, and the Spring Tracks Concert last weekend, you’re in luck! The fun continues in The Village at Palisades Tahoe on Saturday, April 23rd. Spring Tracks returns to the KT Deck, this time with DJ Paul Oakenfold, and the annual Tahoe Truckee Earth Day is back after a long hiatus.

LAST WEEKEND

Last weekend was action-packed. Sunday was our only clear day, so rather than canceling anything, we stacked all of our events onto a single day. It was Easter, so we had multiple egg hunts going on for both kids and adults, and we had the annual signature spring pond-skimming competition, Cushing Crossing. We closed the day out with the Spring Tracks concerts, featuring sets from both DJ Logic and G. Love.

EXPECT FRESH TURNS THIS WEEKEND

We’ve got serious SNOW in the forecast: There is a Winter Weather Warning all throughout the week, and we could see more than two feet of snow on our upper mountains. By Friday evening, skies will clear and temperatures will increase on Saturday. Skiing and snowboarding is going to feel like a day in Miracle March — You won’t want to miss it!

Are the events this weekend kid-friendly? Totally. Earth Day has exhibits and activities tailored specifically to kids, and the early start time for the Spring Tracks concert makes it a perfect family-friendly option.

What’s the weather going to be like? Both Saturday and Sunday look like dreamy sunny days. Both days will hover around 45 degrees in the daytime. Make sure you bring layers if you plan on being here early or staying late.

Can I use my 2022-23 Ikon or Ikon Base Pass this weekend? Yes! Spring access for 2022-23 pass holders started last week. This access is not available to Ikon Session pack holders.

Photo Gallery: The Great Dig Out at Palisades

What a turbulent but exciting month March has been so far! The snow depth on our upper mountain is upward of 18 feet, and we are at 166% of total average snowfall. We started the first day of March off with 3 feet of snow in 24 hours. Then, after a small break in the weather, we received snow (and at some elevations rain) every day between March 5th and March 15th! Our season-to-date snowfall total is now sitting at 662 inches, or just over 55 FEET of snow. 14 of those feet have fallen in March alone!
