Ski, Ride, and Get Educated with Alpenglow Expeditions

Alpenglow Expeditions class watching snow pack demonstration.

Alpenglow Expeditions strives to facilitate unique, exhilarating, educational, and responsible ski experiences for locals and visitors alike in the Lake Tahoe area. As such, we offer a diverse variety of programs and customizable excursions to accommodate virtually any skill level. Whether you’re brand new to the exciting world of backcountry ski and ride or you’ve long been dreaming of crafting a custom mission to earn the perfect turns, our world-class team of professionally-trained instructors are ready to help you realize your full potential.

We are incredibly stoked to be able to enjoy such an extensive variety of terrain at our home in Olympic Valley. By utilizing the extensive lift system in Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort, our guided Palisades Tahoe Backcountry Tours offer access to coveted terrain in three distinct areas: Tram Ridge, Munchkins, and the famed Nat Geo Bowl. Because these areas are lift-accessible, we’re able to minimize uphill travel and prioritize riding much more efficiently than a normal day’s touring. Furthermore, because these groups are privately guided, everyone is on the same page about pace and ability. The Palisades Tahoe Backcountry Tour is an optimal choice whether you want to rip as many laps as possible, find the hard-to-reach stashes of cold pow, or build your foundational backcountry skills with guided instruction.

Additionally, we offer one-day Backcountry 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 courses serving clients of all abilities. Our 1.0 course is designed to get you ready for the nuance and fundamentals of backcountry travel and uphill movement by learning how to properly use your touring gear and get away from the resort crowds under the supervision of our certified instructors. This is the ideal first step before taking an avalanche safety course. Our 2.0 focuses further on planning and leadership skills, avalanche safety, and movement, and 3.0 moves into the world of ski mountaineering, for advanced skiers and riders looking to explore steeper, more exposed lines.

We are also a certified AIARE provider, and teach a wide range of avalanche safety and rescue courses throughout the winter. Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or experienced backcountry rider, our series of courses will allow you to naturally progress and gain a better understanding of how to operate in the backcountry with a solid avalanche education. Moreover, we are excited to be piloting a new one-day AIARE Refresher course, designed for those who have taken an AIARE 1 in years past and would like to update their knowledge to current standards.

For information on any of our other courses or backcountry guiding, check out our website. For any questions call our office at 877-873-5376 or send us an email info@alpenglowexpeditions.com. We hope to ski & ride with you soon and look forward to educating our community this winter.
