2016 Year in Review

  • Dec 31, 2016
  • 10:17 am

As 2016 comes to a close we wanted to look back on our favorite moments from 2016 with you, so without further ado:

#10 – New Siberia Express High Speed Six Pack

Technically, the new Siberia Express opened in 2015, BUT 2016 was packed with powder turns, long cruisers and smiles on the new high-speed six pack Siberia.

p.s. it still will be packed with powder turns, long cruisers and smiles in 2017 too 🙂

#9 – December 24, 2016 Christmas Eve Powder Day

Santa brought the powdery goodness to Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows this Christmas Eve. 16″ of new snow that was light and fluffy made for one AWESOME day.

#8 –  WinterWonderGrass Tahoe

What’s better than 3 days of bluegrass music paired with craft beers under the California sun? Not much. Come join us in the New Year for WinterWonderGrass March 30-April 2, 2017

#7  – FOUR new Patrol Puppies

We love our Squaw and Alpine Dog Teams and in 2016 we got 4 new puppies added to the team: Trooper, Huxley, Watson and the newest member Ridge. Can you say cuteness overload?

#6 – Miracle March 2016: 139″

March 2016 was an awesome one. Overall, we saw 139″ and a lot of happy skiers and riders. Here’s to an identical March for 2017!

#5 – Skiing thru the end of May 2016

The 2015-16 season was an awesome one. So awesome that we had the longest season in Tahoe! We skied right to the end with closing day on May 30, 2016.

#4 – Godzilla El Nino helped bring 409″ in 2016

Ahhh, Godzilla El Nino. You treated us well. We reaped the benefits of the Godzilla storms and ended with 409″ in 2016.

#3 – Voted Number One Ski Resort in North America by USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice

A big thank you to all of the fans that voted for us in 2016. We ended up taking the number one spot for 2017 too!

#2  – Named to host 2017 Audi FIS Ski World Cup

We were so excited to announce that we will be hosting the 2017 Audi FIS Ski World Cup at Squaw Valley! This marks the return of World Cup ski racing to California for the first time in 19 years.

#1 – YOU! The skiers and riders that joined us in 2016 to make it a memorable year.

Without you we wouldn’t have all of these incredible memories to reflect upon in 2016. From the bottom of our mountain loving hearts, we thank you for joining us in 2016. Here’s to another year (and hopefully many more) of making memories with you!

Thank you Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows skiers and riders!
