With endless sunshine, soft snow, and après all day, Palisades Tahoe has proved itself time and time again to be the Spring Skiing Capital. Nothing compares to Spring in the Sierra, but what should you expect? We are here to help.
What’s the weather?
Weather in Lake Tahoe can vary during the spring, but we’re known for plenty of sunshine, perfect for t-shirt skiing and multi-sport days. To be prepared, bring your winter gear as conditions can change quickly, including springtime blizzards in the Sierras. Be sure to check the weather before your visit.
What should I pack?
- Bring layers: It tends to be cold at night, but warm during the day in the spring. T-shirts, flannels, and base layers are all great options. Vests and puffy jackets are the best mid-layers!
- Lightweight snow gear: Such as snow pants, thermal base layers, gloves, hat, etc. In the spring, however, be prepared to shed some layers.
- Costumes: Visitors at the Spring Skiing Capital will rock onesies, retro outfits, and even bikinis on the slopes. Express your goofiest self and be creative with your look!
- Sunscreen, chapstick & sunglasses: Essential for on-snow activities!
- A swimsuit: Taking a polar plunge in nearby Lake Tahoe isn’t uncommon during spring. Be prepared to layer up afterward. PRO TIP: If you stay in The Village at Palisades Tahoe, you get access to our 8 outdoor hot tubs!
- Hiking boots: While many areas will still have snow, melt-off will begin to open up certain spots for exploration!
- Wool socks: Better for when your feet get wet.
- Reusable water bottle: You can get easily dehydrated at high altitudes!
