As of 7 o clock this morning, it is official: 22/23 has taken the #1 spot for SNOWIEST SEASON ON RECORD for this season-to-date period! When we first reported snow this morning at 4:58 am, about 6 inches had fallen and it was still coming down. This means that at 5am, we had 706 inches of snow so far this season, and we knew we only needed 2 more inches to beat our all-time season snowfall record to date of 707 inches…
Just two hours later, another 4 inches fell on the snow stake, crossing us over into gold medal territory with 710 INCHES and counting!
Our annual average snowfall is 400 inches, or 33 feet, but our current snowpack of 710 inches puts us at 59 feet. That’s 178% of our annual average snowfall and it’s not stopping yet. We could see snow showers throughout the day with an additional few inches.
As for the season totals, we’ve already surpassed ALL our previous seasons on record.
- Last season we saw a total of 350 inches for the entire season. We’ve more than doubled that so far.
- Above-average season snowfall totals ( >400”) over the past 25 years include:
